As I had previously written here, Nakagawa Nami along with vocalist Yoshiyama Hiromi performed for a really amazing concert on Valentine’s Day at AntiKnock in Shinjuku as their group “BNE”.

First of all, I must say that my only knowledge of Nakagawa-san’s work is from her mesmerizing vocals on both the NieR and Drakengard 3 soundtracks. Here’s just one example that sticks out in my memory.

So, suffice it to say, I was pleasantly surprised to hear her sing in much more of a typical rock genre! She has such a wide vocal range; I was very impressed. Most of her work on the NieR & Drakengard 3 soundtracks utilized her upper soprano range, but she also showcased a very strong lower register at this concert. Amazing!!

As with most live musical productions like this, if you reserve a ticket in advance, you’ll get a little bit of a discount, but in this particular case, for all those who reserved a ticket to specifically see BNE, both Nakagawa Nami and Yoshiyama Hiromi had prepared a small gift for fans. There were more bands scheduled to preform after BNE, but I decided to skip out after their show… On the way out, I discovered that they were greeting fans as they left, giving each person their Valentine’s gift. I was able to speak with both Nakagawa-san and Yoshiyama-san briefly as I left. The little gift was a common Japanese snack that was hand-dipped in chocolate and decorated with various sprinkles. It was quite yummy!!

Since I’ve spoken with her a little bit before on Twitter/Facebook, Nakagawa-san knew me a little bit…enough to know that I’m a huge NieR/Drakengard fan. She hinted at something very interesting for an up-coming event, but alas… You’ll have to put 2 and 2 together for yourself. xD
