Read on for more detailed information on the single CD along with Japanese and English lyrics to the song “This Silence is Mine”.
The DOD3 theme song “This Silence is Mine” by Onitsuka Chihiro has been released tonight! I just picked it up on the way home from work! And. It. Is. AMAZING!!! If you got chills from watching the 2nd PV for the first time, this will do it double fold! And that’s not even including the meaning behind the lyrics!! AHHH!!
I’ve edited the lyrics just a tad than what is shown in the booklet with the CD because in the last repeated refrain, she repeats several words that aren’t in the lyrics. The addition of these words should help for anyone who would care to try and sing this! I wonder if it’s in Karaoke yet…!!
Note:
The lines where it says “watashi” in kanji sounds more like she is skipping the “w” sound, which is another way that some women choose to call themselves. It’s more cute or gentle that way, perhaps.
Japanese transcription and translation by Rekka Alexiel.
*** Main lyrics are in BOLD!
*** Japanese Romaji is in ITALICS!
*** English is in normal text!
THIS SILENCE IS MINE
—————————-
私に見えるのは
atashi ni mieru no wa
The things I envision before me:
遠い 遠い 過去の渕
tooi tooi kako no fuchi
The abyss of the far distant past
私に見えるのは
atashi ni mieru no wa
The things I envision before me:
ひどく ひどく 凍えた眼
hidoku hidoku kogoeta hitomi
Those horrible, horribly frozen eyes
私に見えるのは
atashi ni mieru no wa
The things I envision before me:
そっと覚醒た羊の夢
sotto mezameta hitsuji no yume
The dream of a gently woken lamb
私に私に見えるのは
atashi ni, atashi ni mieru no wa…
The things I envision before me, before me:
雑音の狭間 揺りかご
zatsuon no hazama yurikago
The space between noise, a cradle
誰にもこの肌には届かない
dare ni mo kono hada ni wa todokanai
No one can reach or even touch this skin
雑音の狭間 揺りかご 緋の跡
zatsuon no hazama yurikago hi no ato
The space between noise, a cradle, blood-red scars
THIS TATTOO
THIS, THIS PREVIEW
THIS HEARTBEAT
沈黙の最中よ
chinmoku no sanaka yo
Oh, Midst the silence
WHERE IS MY GEAR?
WHERE, WHERE ARE MY STAIRS?
WHERE IS HEARTBEAT?
THIS SILENCE IS MINE
THIS, THIS SILENCE
…silence…silence…
私が祈るとき
atashi ga inoru toki
It seems whenever I try to pray,
それは熱を帯びる
sore wa netsu wo obiru
Something always becomes hot to touch
私が叫ぶとき
atashi ga sakebu toki
It seems whenever I try to scream,
それは それは 声を奪う
sore wa, sore wa koe wo ubau
Something, something there always strips me of my voice
私が生きるとき
atashi ga ikiru toki
It seems whenever I try to live,
それは 乱れ舞い 放つの如く
sore wa midare mai hanatsu no gotoku
Something always sets off into a distorted, crazy dance.
Oooh!
THIS TATTOO
THIS, THIS SCREW
THIS HEARTBEAT
灯りと正義よ
akari to seigi yo
Oh, the light and justice
WHERE IS MY GEAR?
WHERE, WHERE IS MY CHIOR?
WHERE IS, WHERE IS MY HEARTBEAT?
THIS SILENCE, THIS SILENCE
哀しみを捨てて
kanashimi wo sutete
I will throw away my sadness
心を失って
kokoro wo ushinatte
And lose my heart
思いを犯して
omoi wo okashite
Even violate my thoughts
先に行ければ ああ それでいい
saki ni ikereba aa sore de ii
If I can move forward, Ahh, then fine
身体が囁く 囁く 囁く 囁く 囁く
karada ga sasayaku, sasayaku, sasayaku, sasayaku, sasayaku
My body whispers, whispers, whispers, whispers, whispers
(your symphony is never-ending)
THIS TATTOO
THIS, THIS PREVIEW
THIS HEARTBEAT
沈黙の最中よ
chinmoku no sanaka yo
Oh, Midst the silence
WHERE IS MY GEAR?
WHERE, WHERE ARE MY STAIRS?
WHERE IS, WHERE IS, HEART, HEARTBEAT?
THIS SILENCE IS MINE
THIS, THIS SILENCE
THIS SILENCE IS MINE
thanks for sharing the lyrics, wonderful theme. and ちひろさん is my all-time favorite and such a talented singer-songwriter!.
i wonder if the lyrics are as they are in the booklet as. like 渕 which in my opinion will be 淵 to make scenes. i know sometimes a few japanese words might’ve been altered into some other parasynonyms but keeping its original pronunciation. so you know just in case….
No problem! I wrote the lyrics just as they appeared in the booklet. There are several kanji that take on alternative readings in this song; each time, though, the meaning remains the same. Simply the different reading adds to the aesthetic feel of the lyrics, much like poetry. 😀
i get your point. like in some cases 人間 might’ve been read as hito, 惑星 as hoshi. i’ve found this pattern to be interesting even giving them mutiple or metaphorical meanings, although occasionally it’ll confuse me… all i’m trying to say is that this song is a masterpiece and i’m hoping the overseas shipment of dod3 won’t take much time delivering to me. again thank you for the excellent translation and patient explanation.
Absolutely no problem!! I’m glad there are a few people out there that appreciate what I’m doing!! I really appreciate it! <3
Hi, just came across this while I was looking for the jp lyrics to this song.
渕 and 淵 are the same. 渕 is just a variant. It’s not an alternate reading, it’s a different way of writing.(淵 may also be the old form, but I can’t say either way)
Ahh, I see. Great, thanks! 😀
