YoRHa Boys Ver.1.0 – Secret File #2

I had some time today, so I picked this up again. I wanted to try learning how to use Illustrator more, so the majority of the menu windows were made from scratch in Illustrator, then I exported it over to Photoshop to do the rest.

Please beware of spoilers related to the YoRHa Boys Ver.1.0 stage play.

This is the secret file that’s in the very back of the YoRHa Boys Ver.1.0 stage play pamphlet. What’s interesting is that this is the only place where we’re actually given a specific location for this play: Madagascar.

Here’s a quick summary of what we learn from this:

  • Voice Data Recording – There’s really nothing new here. This is taken directly from No2’s final words (a recording via SS, the prototype of Pod153) at the very end of the play.
  • Mail – Again, nothing much here is all that surprising or new. We knew that No21 had been discussing sensitive topics with No22 about their future. It’s interesting that he brings up the “Kingdom of Night” here as well. What’s really sad is that No21 was well intended. The M Squad was unique in the fact that they were killed and brought back over and over again. As long as their Black Boxes remained in tact, they could be “restored” with the help of their Healer, who would make regular backup copies of their personal data.
  • Personality Data Analysis Report – This is all new information about the Attacker No6. It appears that his superior intelligence and exceptional fighting ability helped to unlock the negative side of his personality, drawing out tendencies for sadism, cruelty, and hedonism. It’s because of this that he poses a greater risk to the team than he is otherwise useful; therefore, the No6 personality was deemed unsuitable for direct combat. This has great implications for our dear 6O.

Cast Revealed for the YoRHa Ver.1.3a Stage Play!

YoRHa Ver.1.3a – July 4-7 in Tokyo / July 11-14 in Osaka

The preliminary ticket reservations for the YoRHa Ver.1.3a stage play later this summer just wrapped up yesterday, and so the official Web site has been updated with the cast list! So, here’s the first look at the completely NEW cast!

First of all, let me remind you that this is a revisioning of the original YoRHa stage play which depicts the Pearl Harbor Descent Mission on December 8, 11941. It’s this story that we first meet No2… But you will notice a very interesting addition to the cast at the bottom of the list…

YoRHa:Dark Apocalypse

Announced at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Paris, it was just announced that there will be a new NieR:Automata themed alliance raid penned by Yoko Taro.

According to PC Gamer, it is planned for the new Shadowbringers expansion of FFXIV! It is a raid that will encompass three teams of 24 members and is said to take place after the events of NieR:Automata.

The new FFXIV expansion will be helmed by SQEX Producer Saito Yosuke, who is affectionately nicknamed “Yosu-P,” and, of course, Yoko Taro. Very little about their individual roles has been stated at this time, but I believe Yoko will be penning the scenario for the YoRHa collaboration. This does not necessarily make him the director, which I believe will still remain in the hands of Yoshida Naoki (Yoshi-P), the FFXIV director and producer. More about their specific roles for this collaboration should become known in the coming weeks.

Yoko Taro has also been quoted from this pre-recorded video of him talking with Yosu-P.

Saito: What was the last Final Fantasy you played?
Yoko: The last Final Fantasy I played… FFXII.
Saito: Ah, you played FFXII?
Yoko: Yes, I did.
Saito: That’s pretty recent. I was thinking maybe it’d be around FFVI or so.
Yoko: But the Final Fantasy I played before XII was II.
Saito: (haha) So, I guess you don’t really like the series.
Yoko: I play it!
Saito: Sounds like you don’t really like it.
Yoko: I love Final Fantasy!

Yoko Taro is notorious for his chronic tongue-in-cheek comments, and him saying that the FF game he played before FFXII was II… just screams Yoko cheekiness to me. I don’t believe those are the only FF titles he’s played, so it might be better not to entirely take everything he says as 100% truth.

Very little of this is currently known, so additional details should become known later this year. The presenter suggested that they only have five more months to work on it, so they may be thinking of a release around July or August (I’m not sure if this would be released along with Shadowbringers or not, though). He also made the comment that just the look of this promotional illustration by Koda Kazuma makes it seem like a straight-up NieR:Automata sequel…

Lastly, the next Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival will be in Tokyo on the weekend of March 23-24. I would bet that we will hear much more details on this topic then.

YoRHa Musical Ver.1.2 – Secret File #1

This is something that I started working on earlier last year but never had the opportunity to finish it until now. There’s some pretty interesting information here, so I hope you enjoy!

A couple interesting things to note:

  • The Commander was against the M Squad project but was overruled by the Council of Humanity.
  • No2’s battle data was used in the development of future No2 models, which were rebranded as Type E units.
  • The “false memories” installed into prototype YoRHa models was later abolished since they often caused hesitation in battle.
  • There is mention of “black boxes” in the stage play but they are often referred to as “fusion core reactors”.
