Some new information about NieR:Automata’s release has just come out of Gamescom in Cologne, Germany today.
According to Nova Crystallis, the game will be released on both the PS4 as well as on Steam:
“In a surprise announcement, NieR Automata is coming to Steam in addition to PlayStation 4 in early 2017. News comes from a video message from director Yoko Taro during a special IGN live stream.”
The interview they are quoting is the 18 minute live stream by IGN, which you can watch here or right here via YouTube:
A couple things that Saito-san was not able to speak in great detail were:
- Whether we will actually meet any humans.
- What the aliens look like.
- According to the NieR Drama CD track “The Space War”, Emil states that they look like giant squids or octopuses.
Definitely good news for those gamers out there who have since ditched console gaming for computer gaming instead. Perhaps this will allow more people to get their hands on and try out the game! It will be interesting to see how different the specs for both versions will be. I have very little knowledge or understanding on how Steam works since I am mostly a console RPG gamer.
