The YoRHa CD and The Battle of Tarawa

I’ve continually been delving into the historical allusions that are jam-packed into the YoRHa stage play by Yoko Taro, but this is a recent revelation that I came to while taking a closer look at the image printed on the related single Normandy / Guadalcanal CD that was released well before the play.

Here’s what it looks like:

Going on the little bits that I could read and the previous allusions to the Normandy and Guadalcanal Campaign, I came across this image:

YoRHa-DVD-tarawa

It depicts the Tarawa Atoll in the Central Pacific which was one of many battles during World War II. This particular atoll was occupied by Japanese forces during this period.

I’m not exactly sure how this particular battle fits into the whole thing, but it’s very clear that it’s one of many battles that involved Japanese forces as the main aggressor.
