YoRHa Musical Ver.1.2 – Secret File #1

This is something that I started working on earlier last year but never had the opportunity to finish it until now. There’s some pretty interesting information here, so I hope you enjoy!

A couple interesting things to note:

  • The Commander was against the M Squad project but was overruled by the Council of Humanity.
  • No2’s battle data was used in the development of future No2 models, which were rebranded as Type E units.
  • The “false memories” installed into prototype YoRHa models was later abolished since they often caused hesitation in battle.
  • There is mention of “black boxes” in the stage play but they are often referred to as “fusion core reactors”.

New Song Lyrics in the YoRHa Musical

The YoRHa Musical Ver.1.2 was massively upgraded and revisioned from the previous Ver.1.1 stage play that had its last run in May 2015. One of the new additions to the musical was newly added song lyrics penned by Yoko Taro himself.

Back in February when I went to the musical and later watched it several more times via NicoNico Douga, I wrote down the lyrics as I heard and understood them, later translating them into English. This was really difficult to do and I knew there would be plenty of discrepancies and mistakes.

Now that the Musical has been released on blu-ray, they’ve included the lyrics to these songs, so now all we have to do is translate them. There are a couple additional verses to the song “Grandma” that does not actually appear in the musical.

Below you can find the lyrics as they’re shown in the booklet along with the Romaji reading and my preliminary English translation. It’s still pretty barebones right now and I may tweak them some more so that it sounds more like song lyrics without losing the intended meaning and feeling.

My vision
A sword of prayer
In the present darkness

His enemies and the fire of destruction
When the light still cannot be seen

Is it empty?
Is it redemption?
Those imaginary spirits in the song, the distant song,
Even now they break

YoRHa Musical/YoRHa Boys Blu-ray does NOT have English Subtitles

A fellow user on Twitter recently asked the official account for the YoRHa stage plays whether or not the up-coming Blu-ray release will have English subtitles, and here was their reply:

Unfortunate for sure but not entirely unforeseen. I have yet witnessed a release by DearStage that includes any subtitles whatsoever. Then again, my only experience is with the initial DVD release of the YoRHa Ver.1.0 stage play, which was strictly a barebones release with not special extras. The video itself was horribly rendered with interlacing codecs that made it sort of ugly to even watch. *sigh* Here’s to hoping at least the production quality of this release will be better…

There could still be hope for an international release that includes English subtitles (and maybe others as well), depending on how well this first release does.

Lastly, if you look closely at the image that they posted, you can see that the region encoding of the Blu-ray is “region free”… which would make this playable internationally. That’s at least one small step that they took to make at the very least importing it more plausible…

I also tweeted the following information:

It amused me that the official YoRHa Twitter account liked it. lol
