With the approach of the updated version of the KimiShini Zero Stage play, this is a new poster teaser featuring the main four characters. From the top right going clockwise: Botan, Sakura, Hakuji, and Usuki.

I’m planning on covering the dress rehearsal for this play as well, so please look forward to that!

Thou Shalt Not Die / Kimi Shi ni Tamou Koto Nakare ZERO, Stage Play Recap!

Ever since I heard that Yoko Taro was going to write a stage play that would be a prequel to his manga series, I knew that I had to go! I had only gone a couple times to the YoRHa play (only twice for each of the two runs; 4 times total). I know many people would and have questioned me–one was even my own mother–why I would want to see the same play more than once, and to that I have no answer. I can’t answer that for you. I can’t make you understand what it feels like to like something so much that you’d want to over-indulge in it. Given the shitty year that 2016 was, especially losing my father, I thought that he would have wanted me to go as often as I liked. And that’s what I did.

I pre-ordered tickets for 6/9 of the shows pretty early on and I was okay with that. But when I heard that they would have bonus items for repeaters… I was compelled to add the last three shows.

Then shortly after I picked up the tickets from the conbini, I realized I had made a huge mistake. The first two days of the show were scheduled for December 21 and 22. I apparently was still scheduled for work those two days. I probably could have made the evening show on the 21st anyway, but it would have been impossible for me to make the early afternoon show on the 22nd… so I asked my school to reschedule those two days for earlier in the month. *phew*

The first day, I took a couple pictures around the area.

■ The Story

The setting for the play takes place three years before the start of the manga series, when the Japanese government was recruiting young people to use as guinea pigs to develop super human abilities. In the play we meet a group of ten 9th graders who were chosen to participate in a training session to see who would be selected for the Special Abilities Private High School.

There are so many great scenes of the kids playing and having fun, playing tricks on each other, but all the while there are several adults trying to manipulate events that cause complete and utter chaos… and only a few survive…

Thou Shalt Not Die / Kimi Shi ni Tamou Koto Nakare ZERO Stage Play – Begins Tomorrow!

The opening show of Yoko Taro’s Thou Shalt Not Die / Kimi Shi ni Tamou Koto Nakare ZERO stage play opens tomorrow evening at 7:00pm at Shinjuku Mura LIVE and will run through Christmas Day!

Thou Shalt Not Die / Kimi Shi ni Tamou Koto Nakare PV Theme “Colorless”

Toward the end of November, Odd Entertainment released a PV video for Yoko Taro’s upcoming stage play based off of his manga series Thou Shalt Not Die / Kimi Shi ni Tamou Koto Nakare. Along with the video that serves as a great character introduction video is the gorgeous theme song sung by Kuryuu Mina (栗生みな) who plays the character of Botan, a returning character from the manga series.

The official Twitter account for the stage play announced that this song, entitled “Colorless”, is now available for purchase at the following links:

Just the name alone, I think, carries a lot of meaning with it considering all the characters in the play are named after…

COLORS

Whether you’re a fan of Yoko Taro, the manga series, or whatever, this is a freaking kick-ass song that you need to hear at least once. I can easily see myself listening to this on eternal repeat for a good, long while…!

I’m hoping they will release a CD version of the song at the performance of the play so that I can get some official lyrics. I’ll work on my own version (by ear), but here is the opening verse with my adapted English translation:

見上げた空から降る
闇色無数の雫
アスファルト黒く滲む
変わって行く街

look at the sky, there’s something falling
it’s like they’re countless drops of darkness
they stain the ground and everything in sight
forever changing the city

The main part from the refrain is this line:

続けて 真っ直ぐに サヨウナラ

Keep at it Straight ahead Good-bye

……and as it turns out, I couldn’t help but purchase tickets for EVERY show of the stage play. It’s a lot of money, but I kinda feel like this is what my dad would have wanted me to do, to go and enjoy something that I felt really passionate for… And so that’s what I will do. I’m so excited and yet really afraid that these poor performers will think I’m some crazy freak or something… but y’all know part of that’s true, right? lol Nah, I’m just really, really shy by nature, which I really doubt any of that comes through properlly over the Internet. haha

Anyway, it looks like I’m going to be pretty busy on the 22nd when the NieR:Automata demo comes out, so I’ll try to get videos and what-not of that out as soon as I can. I hope they’ll have the demo ready for download relatively early in the day… because the first show of the play that day is at 2:00PM…
